Intrigue in manner bandits abducted high-ranking traditional ruler in Niger
The Dodo of Wawa, Dr. Mahmud Ahmed Aliyu of Borgu in Niger state has been allegedly abducted by armed bandits in his palace on Saturday night.
The gunmen, numbering about 20, were said to have invaded the palace shooting.
The abduction was surgical—as no one else was taken or harmed.
” They arrived on motorcycles at 10pm yesterday and shooting into the air that threw the whole palace and the area into panic.
The traditional ruler just followed them while his subjects in hiding watched on.
“They left with our ruler and presently, nothing has been heard on his whereabout ,” an eyewitness stated.
The state police command confirmed the abduction.
Its spokesman DSP Wasiu Abiodun said the police were on the trail of the abductors.
Borgu is in New Bussa Local Government Area of Niger state.
